Bad Things

Goodness! This is one sexy video…

Winter Blossoms

I took these photos only just this morning. I am thinking of photographing this tree again around twilight tonight.

Busy Days - Exhausted Nights

With a toddler and newborn on my hands, there has been little time for things like blogging. But here I am with a spare few moments to share.
This morning my eldest daughter invited me to sit at her little table and do a drawing for her, using crayons. It was actually a relaxing activity. I think the illustration is a keeper.

Biding the Time

I am still waiting for my pregnancy to finish. Baby sure is taking her time. My first baby was the same. In the mean time I have been resting up when I can. Reading a little and doodling in my art book.
I had some pendant/earring ideas last night. Something that could be made out of flat wood or even cardboard. Here are some of my ideas…
Heart

My Earth

Palm Tree

Super Star

Sweet Cherry

Walk on the Quiet Side

Not a lot is happening at the mo’. Just quietly waiting for baby no. 2 to be born.
I have started reading Whip It written by Shauna Cross. I have already seen, and love the film, so it was inevitable that I would also pick up the book.
On the crafting front I am crocheting a bunch of strawberries — intended as a Xmas gift for Gwen later this year.
Any other creative outlets have been limited to doodling in my sketch book, or any number of my writing journals. I thought I'd share some of my more recent sketch pages…

Twilight Vol 2

I am so, so happy to hear that Twilight: The Graphic Novel Vol 2 will finally be coming out 11th October, this year. This book has been a long time coming. But if it is anything like the first graphic novel it will be worth the wait. All the same, I can hardly wait.

Was This What You Imagined?

If towns were what we imagined then we'd never have to visit them…
Think of the times you went on a spontaneous road trip only to discover that your destination did not live up to the fantastical landscape in your mind’s eye. Instead you discover that there is no lake, as its namesake may have led you to believe. Or perhaps the advertising that you relied so much on was about ten years out of date, and the venue you were visiting is no longer in its glory days.
Running my eye over a map of Australia, and taking in the namesakes I notice some coastal destinations such as Eden and Golden Beach.  Immediately my mind concocts images of sleepy blue-green botanical havens, and gold hued beaches. I imagine these towns to be a blending of fishery and surf culture, small town comforts, and as yet untainted by fast paced consumer culture. There are no shopping centres. The post office doubles as a newsagency and convenience store. There is an antique store, which sells second hand books. Plus a tea and cake shop that offers homemade crafts on the side.
Glancing again at a map of Australia other town names grab my attention and I begin to imagine:
·      The people of Maclean would have the cleanest teeth of anyone in Australia.
·      Deception Bay would be easy to find on the map, yet strangely difficult to escape once you get there.
·      On Thursday Island schools and business only open on Thursday.  People enjoy the rest of the week swimming at the beach, making shell necklaces.

Create

I can feel the creative flow coming to a stand still again. Only in this case it is a question of which direction to go.
Do I write? Or do I draw?
I can feel a song by The Clash coming on.
